what you have been told is correct. I own 2 48 MD's and when i shut them down i let them idle for a bit. I switch back to gasoline and let it run. I shut the gas off and let the gas burn completely out. after the engine shuts down i switch the lever back to diesel mode. Been operating them this way since 1948 and haven't had a problem.
