Don: I've kind of been hanging back expecting this to happen. Red Man is suggesting the oposite to what your saying and I some how suspect you both may be right. I had known for years some of the 460 & 560 had planetary PTO and some had clutch type. It now appears there are two separate and different clutch type PTO. So we have three didderent PTO used on these tractors. Like you I bought my 560 new, a diesel in 1963 and had it until 1981. It is now 22 years since I've had my 560 along with 5 other Farmalls, 2 Case and a Deere, I had at the time. I did have the others after that so as result I am a bit rusty on the memory item. However I will say like Red Man my 560 PTO had to be filled separate from the transmission. My PTO was the clutch type with 1.5" fill hole in the top of gearbox. You also adjusted the clutch pack on that PTO through that same hole with a special tool you could get only at IH back then. I believe I do remember a bit about that PTO as I had it rebuilt probably 7-8 times in 18 years and the 11,000 hours I put on it. I can tell you this, remembering every little detail when you are running 9 tractors, a combine and 4 trucks along with other associated equipment, is next to impossible. With that variety manuals get well used.
