There are two drain holes. One at the bottom of the transmission, and a small one on the bottom of the pto. I don't know about using STP, I just did the transmission oil, I use 90 weight gear lube. Incidently, if you've never changed this oil, you may want to pull the shift cover off and look inside to see how clean it is. I also put a magnet on the bottom to attract any metal that maybe flowing in the oil.
I forget how many quarts the transmission holds, I think it's about six, I'm not sure how much a container of stp will do. On my tractor, I really noticed alot more of that gear grinding and PTO grinding when engaging either.
