Hugh and CNKS, I got out my H manual and looked, just for curiosity and the heck of it. It says: 1st: 2.5mph, 2nd: 3.375 mph, 3rd: 4mph, 4th: 5mph, 5th: 15.5mph, reverse: 2.5mph. Here's the kicker, the subhead says: "based on 36" pneumatic tires". The facing page specs 38" tires, which is what I have. If the aspect ratios of the two sizes of tires are the same, I suppose you have to add a ~5% delta for the larger size, then deduct the ratio for the T/A (T/A postdates my H manual by some years, so it's not covered). I'd never noticed before that the manual spec'd 36" tires for speed. Amazing the things you learn here.
