I guess I would have to ask the stupid question of why are you tearing the motor down if you are not sure if it is stuck or not. If the motor is stuck then you are not going to be able to get #1 on TDC until after you free it up. As others have said these tractors are simple to work on. My brother and I split my C, put in a front transmission seal, and had it back together in less than two hours.
