$400.00 is what I payed for mine and I drove it on the trailer. I thought I got an exceptionally good deal. It turnes out I did. I had to put all four tires on it but it has been a very good machine ever since I brought it home. It depends on what you are going to use it for I guess and how much you have to put in to it. I use mine for nothing but some light hay making. I get to pull the rake. It needs a flywheel ring gear but I move it off the bad spot with the hand crank and it fires up first time every time. Look at the tractor closely and even if you know little about these tractors you can tell what has been "modified" by someone else. Look also for welds aroung the torque tube and the engine block. I think alot of people exceed the capabilities of these little tractors and they damage them. Look and see if the arms or rock shafts on the hydraulic unit under the gas tank on each side have been broken and repaired by some heavy welds or brazing. Are there any implements that come with it or just the tractor. See if the engine turns over. Look in the radiator and see if there is any sign of antifreeze. If there is some there should be no block damage from freezing. Any wheel weights? How is the sheet metal? Sheet metal is rather pricey if you replace with new or aftermarket. These are some of the things I have learned from my rebuild of my 50C good luck.
