belly pump on an M farmall dont work any more

a frined of mine has a bad belly pump on his M, and we have been trying to figure out what is wrong with it. well so far we have come up with it has no presure but will still pump, just wont lift anything. i have never been it a belly pump before and have no clue as to what it is that is wore out or damaged on this pump. i would like to know what it is that wears out on them most comonly, if there is a pressure valve in them that might be wore or what have you. any and all help is welcome and needed. thank you steven H and richard W
