The numbers you are quoting are casting or part numbers, not serial numbers. There are dates on the castings that take the form 5-15-P (example) The P indicates the year according to IH codes. Sometimes the two digit year number was used. There should be a nameplate with the serial number on the clutch housing of your 140 that will allow you to determine the year. You can run a lightweight 5 ft rotary cutter with your 140 in light cutting. Heavy tall grass will be too much for it. You will need an overrunning clutch for the PTO to keep the inertia of the rotary cutter blade from pushing your tractor. The inertia will push the tractor though the PTO gears which are connected directly to the transmission drive shaft and thus the wheels.
