Hugh, Thanks so much for your suggestions as to the cause of my jittery hydraulics on my 140. The problem actually ended up being a small chunk of dirt in the small screen that is accessible by taking off the thick steel plate at the back of the hydra-touch. I liken it to taking the head off an engine or compressor because you can see the pistons of the hydra-touch. Anyway, after removing the plate there is a slotted head screw that can be removed which has a small long screen on it. There was a small amount of crud on the end of it. I cleaned the screen and flushed out all the spools and ports I could while I had the plate off. Solved my problem. A technichian at my local Case-IH dealer actually pointed me in the right direction. Kind of scary though, a highly respected independent repair shop stated that it had to be the pump. Couldn't be anything else. Well, luckily after I went through the procedure that you outlined, I decided to call the dealership and ask their advice before proceding with the purchase of a new pump. Saved me about $400. I truly appreciate your attempt to help me with my problem. I wouldn't hesitate to consult you again. Sorry about the problems with my email. I still haven't figured out what is up with that. Thanks again! Steve
