Unless you are carrying a full load in the truck I would say no. The weight of the empty trailer is probably less than the what the truck would have to pull if you had a full load of dirt in the back and passengers in the front and no trailer, you would use OD then without thinking about it. I always use OD hauling empty trailers in both of my trucks and have never had a transmission failure in 20 years of towing.
