Your tranny will not even notice the load of an empty trailer. A 6 x 16 tandem wheel trailer has little initial weight or drag to overcome and your 2000 Ford F350 with V10 and four speed automatic, 3.73 rear end will do nicely. In fact if you are pulling it on the open road with the tractor loaded it should still do fine. I tow all the time and never take it out of OD unless I'm in mountains or going downhill and need braking power from the engine. LW
