Larry,
If you are still getting a leak from that seal chances are that the steering shaft has a slight groove warn into that spot. The old leather seal was wider which gives you the option of moving your new seal location just slightly to a spot on the steering shaft that is not warn. You also can take out the shaft again and install a shrink sleeve on that spot to build up the diameter.
