When I rebuilt mine I found it packed full of grease. I cleaned that out, put in all new seals and gaskets and lo and behold a year later it is leaking in several places. I have since found out that this is a common problem with the design and the most common fix was to drain the oil and pump the gear box full of grease. Something which I plan to do this year myself. I figure the grease I took out was probably 30+ years old knowing the history of the tractor and the gearbox is in great shape.
