As the other fellows have said they go in easy enough. There is an oring in the block on the lower end that seals cooling passage from the rest of cranckcase.The head gasket provides the seal at the top. The back side of the sleeve is therfore wet. Dry sleeves are used to bring a block back to standard in blocks without a wet sleeve set up. I assume the reason you don't see them much anymore is cost to manufacture and assemble....only speculating though.......as for installing new sleeves it will also require head , oilpan and piston removal.....
