Tim: You have good advise already, except no one has mentioned if that tractor has factory hydraulics it will be a lot newer than 1940. Factory hydraulics weren't installed until 1947, when the tractor became Super A.

The snow blade adds some value as these little tractors are monsters when it comes to plowing snow. I have two rules when looking at a Farmall A, SuperA, 100, 130 and 140 If there are no welding or brazing on castings and if sheet metal is good thay are basically a good tractor. If those items are bad you have little more than a parts tractor.
