Need some advise on C axle seal

While the old C was parked on a nice clean concrete floor at the Ozark Epire fair this weekend I noticed the old C has a pretty good drip of oil at the end of the axle housing.I replaced the outer seal and gasket a year or two ago and it would drip about one drop a day. Now that it is on a clean floor it is dripping a drop about every five minutes. To replace the inner seal does the tranmission deck need to come off and the axel out or can I remove the tire and axle housing and slide the new seal over the axel and tap it in place. Just don't want to take more apart then I need to. Thanks for any replys.
PS I guess I could just slide a bigger pan under it.
