John: When I was farming I had a 70 series Chevy truck with 427 gas engine. When this engine was hot and if you happen to shut it down a bit to quick you would hear in in the next county. The truck was also a Single axle highway tractor and in fall I used to rent an aluminium dump trailer for hauling grain. One night I was coming home empty from a delivery. I was keeping my eye open for a convenience store. As I came over this hill, low a store, I stepped on brakes only to have one of the trailer air brakes lock up on the bare pavement. This plus pulling up on gravel, brought most of customers out of store. I shut the Chevy down quite quickly, jumped out and was about 10 feet from truck when BANG, the old Chevy shot flames 4 feet out her dual exhaust. One of the ladies on the step of the convenience store screamed," he's got a gun." I was directly in line from the people on step and the flame. Most of the people saw the humour and had a good laugh, even the store owners wife. When I paid for my purchase, she laughed and said, "you livened the place up." Her husband was not so amused, and mumbled something about the @#$%^&* idiots allowed on the road. Man, could that old Chevy ever make a backfire.
