My 40 model serial #17495 has a seat I have never seen before. There is a small spring with a notched adjustment assembly mounted around it that allows the seat to be adjusted up or down. it is original not a fabrication. I have seen every type you all have mentioned (monroe, small spring and large spring with shock.) but I have never seen another one like this.
