My name is Tom Stinson, and I am 43 and live in Middle Tn about 40mi. west of Nashville. I have often wondered about some of the characters names I see on this site. I guess everybody else has been wondering also.
I have to buy and fix up old farm machines to sell to support my addiction; FARMING!
My wife says I should plant all this stuff in a deep hole and see if new ones will grow in their place.
I depend on this site for its educational value from the people who write here. I have been helped a few times myself, most recently by Bern on the Ford page, who sent me information that was otherwise unavailable to me from any other source including the 2 dealers in this area! On occassion I can put in 2 cents worth.
There is not much farming in our area because they say we are in 'boom times' and the land is now too expensive to farm due to development. That makes my operation interesting, and on rare occassions, profitable.
I own a little 1900 Ford compact with a bunch of implements both new, like a RM550 Woods mower, and old, like the 2 bottom forged beam 8-N plow.
I also have a 285 Massy with a HD-315 Woods fold up mower, a Hesston 5580 baler and 3700 rotary rake.
I recently finished a old model 44SP Massey windrower. I do not think I will sell it because of the interest in curosity it has generated around here. It really causes people to look.
Thanx for the opportunity to talk. Tom S.

Today's Featured Article - The Cletrac General GG and the BF Avery A - A Bit of History - by Mike Ballash. This article is a summary of what I have gathered up from various sources on the Gletrac General GG and the B. F. Avery model A tractors. I am quite sure that most of it is accurate. The General GG was made by the Cleveland Tractor Company (Cletrac) of Cleveland, Ohio. Originally the company was called the Cleveland Motor Plow Company which began in 1912, then the Cleveland Tractor Company (1917) and finally Cletrac. ... [Read Article]
