On the two above posts: I was reading a NAPA publication from '94 about GM starters jamming in the flywheel. I believe he solution was to have about .030-.060 clearance by placing a .010-.015 shim on one of the verticle bolts. This brings the starter gear away from the flywheel. Not being familiar with my own 350U yet, shims in the right place may solve the problem. I don't have the article at hand, but if you want me to double check clearances and procedures, e-mail me.
