I'm 44 and grew up on a dairy farm in Tillatoba Mississippi but now live in a suburb of Memphis TN. Still have the family farm although part of it is rented out with the rest in pine trees. Am employed as an economist with the Corps of Engineers in Memphis. Have three tractors. A 1956 John Deere 420 LPG bought new by my father, an early 60's Ford 2000 (3 cylinder model) bought new by my uncle, and a 1952 Farmall Super A. We're the Super A's third owners but have had it since I was 8 or 9. I learned to drive on this tractor. I plan on beginning a restoration of the Super A this winter. Already have the engine rebuilt but need to replace bearings in gearbox, along with probably every seal and gasket (major leaks). Also needs major sheetmetal work and paint. My wife doesn't know this yet. Won't it be a surprise? Any suggestions? And if I live through it the 420 is next. Already have its engine rebuilt also but it needs major transmission and 3 point lift work.
