You have about 35-40 HP to work with, depending upon what shape your M is in, and whether it's been rebuilt for more power or not (the rear end may not be able to handle the increased torque if it has). I've found Hugh McKay's rule of thumb, 1 to 1-1/4 HP per disc to be just about right for conditions around here (Colorado plains). I certainly wouldn't go any bigger than 10 feet (about 32 discs); eight feet would be better if you're planning on working plowed ground or hoping to get good results in one pass in ground that hasn't been worked for a while. Speaking from experience, it's a lot more fun to have more power than you need than the other way around. Good luck.
