cub clutch

I have a new pressure/clutch plate for my Cub, but when I put the pressure plate on the flywheel and tighten it down, the fingers on the plate go in toward the flywheel. My question is do i have to adjust the set screws on the fingers as they are screwed in all the way against the plate? I am wondering if there is anyway I can tell what year Cub I have without the serial number tag on the tractor? Thanks for any help!!
