Since you can take care of the engine, drive it around in all gears and listen for strange noises. The H transmission is very quiet, unlike transmissions in the A and B, the C is also quiet. Another likely problem is the clutch, the hydraulic pump must come out, then it can be replaced without splitting the tractor. It must be split to replace the flywheel, same for the rear crankshaft seal. Seals in transmission and hyd pump often leak, for you, easy to fix, as are the brakes. Make sure the pto is ok if you want to use a bushhog. PTO is not live, meaning it will not turn with the clutch disengaged. Rear axle seals often leak, fairly easy to fix, just takes time. Drive it in 5th and see if the front wheels wobble, this is a common problem due to wear in the upper bolster. Transmission may jump out of 5th due to worn shifter linkage, requiring removal of the trans cover. These problems can occur in most old tractors, depending on what has been fixed, and how long ago. Parts are readily available.
