you dont really need the t/a, although 1st gear is pretty fast compared to a lot of other tractors. we have a sept 71 gas model w/ ta. we've pulled 3-18s auto reset semi mount plow in 3rd gear. it will pull a 9.5 foot discbine pretty well in 2nd, maybe 3rd. it will also pull a field chopper in corn, one row, with a barge box--newer 12ton + wagons get too to be too much of a load. at full load we've done no worse than 4 gallons per hour...and in that hour you get a lot done with it. other answers are pretty much right on. i've heard a lot of the gas engines weren't quite right from the factory though, but ours has been really good with near 6000 hours on it. -karl
