Robert, I was going to reply sooner but my server went down Thursday and just came back up last night or this morning. I don't know production numbers for the Farmall 400 LPG, but in the Mississippi Delta it was the most common form of 400's sold. Out of each 10 sold I would guess we sold 1 diesel, 2 or 3 gasoline, and 6 or 7 LPG. LPG was the fuel of choice in the Delta in the mid and late 50's and into the early 60's. Both the Farmall 400 gasoline and the Farmall 400 LPG had the same 264 cu in engine but the head was different. The gasoline had 6.3 to 1 compression while the LPG had a completely different head with valve rotators, a different shaped chamber, and 8.35 to 1 compression. The Farmall 400 LPG was tested in Nebraska test #571 with 48.12 db hp and 52.36 belt hp. Corrected to sea level maximum horsepower was 49.54 drawbar and 54.11 belt. This horsepower was a little more than the gasoline model tested. It was built 54, 55, and 56. Serial numbers start; 54 501, 55 2588, 56 29065. Hope this information helps. Harold H
