Haven't seen You post much lately RPM. I've always enjoyed Your comments from the dealership's perspective. There was some sort of coating put on the bars so they wouldn't rust, not really a paint, But it was just a fast brush job at the very end of the line after the cast wheels were slipped on and tightened to prevent rust. On the higher HP tractors it was tough enough to keep the wheels tight without having to wear thru a coat of paint! I wasn't around Feb. of '85. I was working for a small trucking & delivery company driving to Des Moines every Sunday thru Thursday night, then delivering stuff to Dubuque or Keokuk on Fridays. I did get to attend the official Closing ceremony where the LAST FARMALL was displayed in May '85. MAN was that place empty. It sure was sad to see 60-70 year old Men cry because of the plant closing. Farmall was a way of life for most of them. Some family's had 3 generations that worked there.
