Are we attempting to trouble shoot or fix some of that wonderful Lucas electrical equipment.
As the NA saying goes been there done that. If you are missing head or tail lights most likely the problem is the connector under the drivers seat at the back or the connector under the battery case.
If you charge idiot light stays on dimley then it is the ground inside the Lucas alternator. To bad you don't have scrap yards with old GM Delco alternators. The ones with the single wire bolt on the existing alternator mount but sometimes require a longer fan belt. Good luck
