45 degrees here in SW Kansas. Was a weather observer for the K-State Experiment Station for 29 years in addition to my other duties. Recorded the temp and ppt (if any) each day. One thing I learned was that the temp on any given day or series of days was in no way indicative of conditions to follow, just makes for conversation. That said the earliest freeze has been in mid-Sept, latest about Nov 1, average about the middle of Oct. It has frozen in Tribune, KS (west central KS, 3500 feet elevation) in August. It's anyone's guess.
