Leasing may make sense if you want to have a new vehicle every two or three years and don't mind having a perpetual payment. It can be worked to an advantage if you use the vehicle for a business (ie: a farm truck), but you need to know the IRS rules before you enter into a lease agreement. Otherwise, you can come out ahead by buying instead of leasing and keeping the vehicle for several years without having any payments to make on it. The word here is caution. Read the lease agreement very carefully and ignore what the salesman says that he will not put in writing. Negotiate with several dealers if you can. I once knew a man that put out for bids on a new pickup. He was very specific about color and options and managed to save several hundred dollars this way. Another alternative is to buy used. Right now the market around here is flooded with "program cars" that are a great buy compared to a new car. Trucks may also be available like this, but not in my area. Phil
