Tim: That is not hard to believe, it is the North American culture. I'll try to explain. I once had a contract to do service work for Esso or Exxon at one of their refineries. This deal lasted for about 5 years in late 70s. Towards end of contract management at plant were complaining about cutbacks, layoffs, etc. There were about 8 of these high saleried guys. Finally one day I said to them," You guys are your own biggest enemies, when I started this contract 5 years ago you were all driving full size Buicks, Olds, New Yorkers and 2 of them had a Lincolin and a Cadilac, today you are all driving Toyotas, Nisans, etc." There was no exceptions, everyone of them had gone to a small offshore produced car. I told them that since I had just bought a new 98 Regency Oldsmobile, I shouldn't be the one getting the boot in the cutback.
