Iowaboy: It's been my experience that a 12' disk behind a 460 on hilly clay sod will really give the old gal a workout. I must say though, the 12' disk that we have is pretty worn, and it has been suggested to me by my brother that the disk is so worn that the disk gangs probably crank to a pretty severe angle when pulled. I know it pulls hard. Recently bought a decent 10' disk in hopes that the 460 will perform with it better on the hilly stuff. On level ground 12' is no problem. If possible, (depending on slope severity) work the ground in a direction that tends to minimize the steepness of the grade--go across the face of the slope. Your second time thru (you'll have to do at least two passes if you're slicing up clay sod) will pull easier. If finances allow, set her up with a set of duals. You can run a gear higher. If you need to buy a disk, buy a 10 footer. Why walk with a 12' when you can run with a 10'?
