H project tractor

I am looking at a Farmall H project tractor (stuck, PTO doesn't work, sitting in the weeds, looks pretty complete), Serial 48976-X6. I make this out to be a 1940, kerosene, low speed gears. I have a couple of questions:
1. If it is a kerosene model (probably low compression), would running it on gas for some number of years adversely affect the engine? If I do sleeves & pistons, can I update it to gas specs? What else would I have to change?
2. What are the ground speeds for the 'low speed gears' compared to 'standard' gears?
