I worked on these tractors for years and most of the time it's a bad 4th and 5th sliding gear. You have to remove the hydrualic pump and its driver. Then remove the transmission cover and remove the top set of gears to remove the bad one. Replace the seal and shaft bearing at the same time. The last time I bought this gear I believe it cost about $140 for just the gear.
