You know by now that R = 1948. The clutch housings and engines were all the same right from the start. The casting number on the clutch housing can be a little difficult to see behind the clutch pedal and battery cable, but it's there.

If the tractor was early '48 production, it wouldn't be surprising to see some '47 (Q) casting codes.

The touch coltrol wasn't available in time for the earliest production, but it was soon available. All tractors were ready for it.
