Nothing is a sure thing, especially with all the modified tractors around. But the first thing I look for on an H or M is the brakes. They give you the best indication the quickest. My grandfather's M was rebuilt and repainted by an IH dealer about 1957. They put in the larger sleeve set and asked him if he wanted the Super M stickers since it was a Super M now. So the paint on it from the '50's has the Super stickers. Not to try to confuse an innocent buyer. But when I repaint it, I suppose I'll stay with the Super M identification, even though it is a real M, with band brakes.
