I would replace the cutout relay with a regulator. Takes a little rewiring, but you will end up with a much improved system over the old cutout relay. The generator shop you had work on your generator should have a regulator or at least can get you one. If you want a regulator that mounts on the generator like the cutout relay, those regulators are available aftermarket too. Usually around $40 or so. If you get one that mounts on the generator, no one but you will know that it is not a cutout relay.
