My brother has a 454D which is the 3 cyl version of 574D. He uses a log splitter connected to the hydralic remotes and ties the remote control lever open and uses the hydraulic control on the splitter. A word of caution, if you by a new or used log splitter, drain all the hydraulic oil out of the splitter cylinder and replace it with IH hytran hydraulic oil. My brother bought a used log splitter several years ago and hooked it up to his 454D. It turned out the cylinder had regular detergent motor oil in it and it caused all sorts of air bubbles in the brakes, power steering etc.
He had to drain and flush the complete transmission/hydraulic system. Good Luck
