Baggsy, Part of your theory is right and part of it is wrong. Generally, you are correct in that the last number did repersent the number of cylinders, starting with the 404, 706, 806, 1206, etc. However, the first number or numbers has nothing to do with horsepower, only generally accending sizes. 806 is 94.93 pto hp, 1206 is 112.64 pto hp, 1456 is 131.80 pto hp. Close in lots of examples but not the reason for the numbers. Harold H
