Slowpoke: By 1953 IH were ell into production of the Super C using the C-123 engine. Thus the SA was the only tractor left using the C-113 engine. I am only guessing here but probably they used up the stock on C-113 engines, and it was more economical to make thicker sleeves that to cast a separate block. I don't know whether I am right, I'm just looking that as a possible reason. Why they didn't just turn SA as well as SC into a C-123 engine, who knows? That was IH management for you.
