If you want to go a little older, we use our 300 (40 HP)Farmall with the T/A engaged for transplanting- pumpkins, cantelope, and squash...it works really well. It has a wide front with power steering. and a saginaw 3 pt hitch on the back.. but then again a hydro would be the best setup. If you want a diesel int the older tractors I'd look for a SMDTA, 350 or 400 or 450. Some utility or wheatland models also came with the TA.
