Today I removed the 90° fuel filter fitting from the IH 240 carb. It was about 90% plugged, so I got the rubber tipped blow gun and tried blowing the filter clean from the side, but nothing came out. Wanting more air, I removed the rubber tip, and realized the threads were the same as the fuel fitting, 1/8 pipe. Placing the filter screen into the gun, I screwed the fitting in and pressed the trigger. The crud came flying out. Removing the fitting , I saw a pincer bug in the far end. I banged the fitting on a board and the bug fell down to the 90° turn. I replaced the fitting in the gun and hit the trigger. That bug came out of there like a speeding bullet, on his last flight!!!! The filter is now clean as new. Maybe this method will work for others with a stopped up filter.
