I do not have a Super M manual, but the main jet needle on the Super H carb is set 5 turns out for max power, it can be turned in (lean) for light loads. If your Super M manual says to turn it out a certain number of turns, ignore that. With the engine warm and at wide open throttle, turn the main screw in until it runs rough, then back out about a quarter turn. You may have to open it some more if the engine tends to miss under load (too lean). If the engine speed does not change when you have the screw turned in almost all the way, you need a new needle and seat. The malfunctioning thermostat may have an effect in cold weather, but not in October, unless you are in Canada or Alaska.
