I'll bet if any twenty of us made a list, someone would write in with additional items not mentioned. From about 1950 to about 1965, making "improvement" parts for Farmalls was nearly an industry to itself. Companies such as Heisler and M&W certainly made parts for other brands, but along with Behlen, Char-Lynn, and some others, they found the Farmall H and M to be a goldmine because they were so numerous. On some items, even IH got into the act! This list is NOWHERE near complete: oversize sleeves and pistons stroker crankshafts high-compression pistons fast-response governors improved-advance distributor larger jets for carburetor dual throat manifold power steering anti-kickback steering wheel hub live hydraulics "almost-live" pto 3pt hitch 9-speed transmission different gear ratio gearsets hand clutch lever for operating foot clutch pedal various attachments for setting brake latch various types of throttle levers extension for clutch linkage to reduce pedal pressure various levers for actuating pto variety of seat assemblies wedge for front bolster to change caster angle dual wheels - rim and axle mount umbrellas steering wheel knobs over-running pto clutch various types of wheelweights wide-front end hour meter spin-on/off oil filter improved gas cap some differences in muffler size/design "super-snoot" grill extension for corn picker use metal sediment bulb 12-volt conversion kits radio various types of hitches controlled from the seat In addition to all of this (and more) farmers were constantly alert to the possibility of swapping parts from a newer SM, 400, or 450 model onto an old M to get a little more productivity from the beast.
