It depends on the local tractor pulling organization. Some of them enforce a speed limit for pure stock. You would then probably have to pull anywhere from 4th-low to 1st-high. Also some them have rpm limits of factory plus a certain percentage. Some are just a flat 3,000 rpm max with no deviation. As far as maximum rpm it depends on how well balanced the engine is. A smooth running motor can run 3,500+. Depends also on the condition of the fuel pump. The Model 100 can be set up quite a bit. A buddy has a 1466 that was balanced when it was overhauled. He has it backed off to the 250 hp range for farming. A bit more when he goes pulling. He has a cab on it with fluid in the tires. He pulls it in the 15,500 and 18,000 lb classes. He has another 1466 without the cab and no fluid. He pulls that one in the 11,500 and 13,500 lb classes. He puts a Model 100 with 11 mm plungers in that one. He has been known to pull it in 3rd-high at pulls where they are a little lax on the rules. Hardest part is getting the clutch to hook up. The 14's are good pulling tractors and a lot can be done with them. Just depends on how much money you want to spend. Some times it is the expense of setting them up to pull but the repairs that can happen. A stock 1466 wouldn't be worked any harder than it would pulling a 20' tandem disk or a 5/6 bottom plow.

The Fordson F Ignition System - by Anthony West. A fellow restorer contacted me earlier this year asking for some help and advice on a model F that he was restoring. He had over a period of months spent a fair amount of his hard earned cash on replacement parts for the old "trembler" ignition. Sadly though all his efforts seemed to be a waste of time and money as he still couldn''t get the temperamental old thing to run correctly!! If i said that this was a little frustrating for him that would be "conservative" in fact the problem had reduce
