you can use my idea, borrow a 12v battery from something, if it charges, get a ballast resistor and wire it in ahead of the coil, did it with my SM and it starts, runs, charges good. think I found out why I ate 6v batteries though, after switching to 12 volts I am still pushing 20-25 amps into the batt., and all I need is a battery and to pull the resistor to go back to 6. Also you could get a set of remote jumpstart posts and mount them somewhere convenient, jumpstarting a 6v with a 12 won't hurt it as long as you don't leave the cables hooked for long. and your starter wont mind the extra juice, either.
