I agree, if you haven't done this before your a lot better off getting some help from somebody who has and also has a good squeeze chute. Getting them locked in good and tight so you can work will make the job a lot easier on you and the steer. The cold weather is a real good idea for clotting and there is a lot less chance of picking up an infection or a parasite in the wound.
