Other than the engine and brakes, the big difference is the faster 3rd and 4th speeds in the transmission. 4th is nearly 7 mph, as opposed to 5+ and 3rd is 5 as opposed to 4 1/8 or so. Also the choke rod attaches to the carb on the block side on the SM, rather than the outside as on the M.
