There is a considerable difference between the two! I own both: 2-M's 1950-51 & 1-SM 1953. The disc brakes & battery position are correctly stated. As for the tractors themselves the SM is more power from IH. SM horsepower (264 cid engine) Belt/PTO = 43.9, Drawbar = 37.1, pulling weight 5676 lbs & the weight of the trator itself 8929 lbs. The M horsepower (248 cid engine) Belt/PTO = 34.2, Drawbar = 25.5, pulling weight 4233 lbs & tractor weight 6770 lbs. As far as ebay there is a ASK SELLER QUESTIONS BUTTON IN THE RIGHT CORNER. Shipping oh well. Hope this info helps. Either tractor in good working order & depending on your needs are worth owning!
