Paul: I am by no means an expert on rebuilding a TA. I do however believe that with the amount of labour involved in splitting tractor in two places, the smart thing to do would be put it all in new. In other words a rebuilt unit. Of 5 TA equiped Farmalls I only ever replaced one TA in about a total of 75,000 hours on the 5 of them. If you value you time even at $10. per hour , splitting the tractor is still a big expence. Not something you don't want to be doing again in 3 to 5 years.
